We’ve moved!
Pad got a new pad (sorry – we couldn’t resist the pun!) this summer. We packed up our boxes, unplugged the kettle and moved three miles down the road to Crystal Palace.
“We’ve been growing steadily and we simply ran out of space in our old offices,” said Peter Jacobs, Director. “We love the vibe of Crystal Palace – there’s a really creative feel to the area and we’re looking forward to getting to know our neighbours better, and maybe working with them, too.”
And just to show we’ve done our homework about our new home, here’s five facts about Crystal Palace:
- Home of the Great Exhibition in 1851 – or was it? The exhibition was actually held in a temporary structure called The Crystal Palace in Hyde Park. The building was such a success that it was moved to Syndenham once the exhibition was over. Marvels on display included the Koh-i-Noor diamond, an envelope machine and a barometer using leeches.
- The highest scoring member of the Crystal Palace FC squad was Peter Simpson, who scored 153 goals and 19 hat-tricks in the 1920s and 30s. Not to be confused with Peter Simpson, who played for Arsenal in the 1960s and 70s.
- The Crystal Palace TV transmitter is the third-tallest structure in London, standing at 640ft.
- One of the scenes in the Michael Caine film, The Italian Job, was filmed in Crystal Palace.
- Crystal Palace Park was home to the first-ever FA Cup Final in 1895 and continued to host the contest until 1914.

What Katie did next
Meet Katie Barron, Pad’s newest recruit. Katie joined us earlier in the summer on a short-term placement but we were so impressed with her work that we took her on full-time. And she’s repaying us with bucket-loads of creativity and enthusiasm.
Alison Steward, Director of Creative Services said: “Right from the beginning we were impressed with Katie’s work. She’s open to new ideas and a real people person so she’s great with clients. Her skills in Flash animation and illustration are a great addition to our studio. Since she joined us she has played a key role in developing animations on a health and safety campaign for Maersk and she has also worked on the information material and annual report for Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice.
Achieving the right balance for Breeze Yoga
We’re very excited (in a relaxed kind of way) to be working with Breeze Yoga on their brand identity and marketing plan.
Breeze is Beckenham’s hottest yoga club with a yoga, meditation or pilates class to suit everyone. It’s a young, vibrant company that needed a look and feel to match – and that’s where we come in. “The Breeze brand needed to develop in the same way their business has developed,” said Alison Steward, Pad’s Director of Creative Services. “We showed them what we could do to develop their identity further and enhance their brand.
“They are great people to work with. They’re approachable and really receptive to our ideas and suggestions – just like their club, in fact. We all feel energised from working with them.”
Want to see what we’ve done so far? Then check out their website: www.breezeyoga.co.uk. But that’s just the start of it. We’ve got more great ideas up our sleeves and we’re looking forward to working with Breeze to develop the brand even further. Together, we’re working on plans for other areas of their business including the Namaste therapy rooms and the Season Café. Watch this space. Breeze helps people look, feel and be fantastic – and that’s what we want to do for them.
Training the Sarsaparilla Marketing way
Training is another area we have been keen to explore in order to develop various aspects of the Pad ensemble. In any business there are elements that can always be improved upon but it is not always obvious, especially when you are trying to evaluate yourself!
Sometimes, you need someone else to tell you how to make the necessary changes. We at Pad Creative embrace the challenge of continual improvement and as we grow as a business, we head towards expanding ideas and endless possibilities. We extensively researched the idea of training and what we wanted to achieve as individuals and as a thriving company. ‘Sarsaparilla’ was the answer; why not have a look at their website sarsaparillamarketing.com
Kimberly Davis (marketing expert from The Apprentice) worked with Pad Creative to review their approach to their own marketing and their clients marketing activity. The team found Sarsaparilla's Marketing Purification most enlightening.
